Let's Take a Trip on MAX -- Tulip Time

You can visit the beautiful Tulip Time sights without the traffic hassles if you take advantage of MAX Transit’s fixed routes, Park-N-Ride lots, and Tulip QuikTrip Shuttle. Here’s an example …

Marissa’s sister lives out of town and wants to visit during Tulip Time. Marissa, her husband, her sister, and her brother-in-law, decide to take MAX instead of dealing with Tulip Time traffic and parking.

Since they live in Graafschaap, the family decides to go to the nearest Park-N-Ride lot, located at the S. Washington Family Fare. They pick up the Route 5 bus at 0:26 after the hour and take it to the Padnos Center, arriving at 0:50 after the hour. They take a walk to Windmill Island, which is located adjacent to the Padnos Center and enjoy the views of the beautiful Dutch windmill.  

An hour later, the family heads back to the Padnos Center to take the Tulip QuikTrip Shuttle down to CityFlats, cutting out a bit of walking. During Tulip Time, the Shuttle loops out of the Padnos Center every 15 – 20 minutes. They board the Shuttle and get dropped off at CityFlats hotel, just two blocks north of Centennial Park.

After enjoying the tulips, klompen dancers, and delicious treats at that location, they decide they want to visit Dutch Village. They walk to the bus shelter on River north of 7^thStreet and pick up Route 1 at 0:02 after the hour. At 0:14, they leave the bus at the County Health Building located across from the outlet mall next to Dutch Village. When they are done, the family picks up MAX’s Route 4 bus at the outlet mall flagpole at 0:38, returning to the Padnos Center at 0:50. They transfer to the Route 5 bus and return to their car at the S. Washington Family Fare.

Marissa and her family took advantage of their Tulip QuikTrip Shuttle wristbands purchased for $5 each and giving them unlimited rides on the Shuttle and the fixed routes for the entire Tulip Time week. Because they let MAX do the driving, Marissa and her family were able to focus on enjoying the tulips and each other’s company, instead of the traffic and looking for parking.
