MAX Runs Revised Fixed Routes Beginning Feb. 4

Holland, Mich. (January 14, 2008) – The Macatawa Area Express (MAX) transit system will be implementing changes to its seven fixed routes, effective Monday, February 4.  The revisions are being made to the fixed bus routes exactly five months after MAX launched its seven new routes on September 4, 2007 to provide even greater coverage to certain areas of the Holland area.

Route improvements include extending some routes farther south to service industrial and business areas, such as Haworth and JCI, adding new stops to some routes, altering routes to better coincide with school start and end times for students, and  shifting some bus stops to other routes for greater efficiency. (Editor’s Note: See attached list of specific changes to each route for more detail.)

Revised bus schedules will be available at the Padnos Transportation Center, on all MAX vehicles, and at many local retailers, social service agencies and government offices the week of January 28. The revised schedules will be available in English and Spanish.  The new schedules with all bus stops and times will be available online at catchamax.org in March when MAX launches its new website.

MAX’s fixed routes operate from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. with hourly bus service. Buses operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. No Sunday service is available. The one-way fare for adults is $1 and 50 cents for children 5-17. Seniors and ADA cardholders ride the fixed routes for free every day.

Persons with questions on the fixed route revisions may call MAX at (616) 355-1010.
