Boarding Inaccessible Bus Stops in Winter / Sidewalk Clearing Info
Passenger safety is our first concern always. As winter approaches, we remind passengers to never attempt to climb up and stand on snow piles at bus stops. When snow and ice make bus stops inaccessible, MAX will pick up passengers at the closest driveway or lot. Passengers are asked to be waiting along the roadside by the nearest drive or lot waiting for the bus and to indicate to the driver they wish to board with a simple wave as the bus approaches.
PLEASE NOTE: Property owners and/or occupants have primary responsibility for clearing snow & ice from sidewalks. The City of Holland provides a sidewalk plowing program to assist in this effort, but does not relieve residents and business owners of their obligation.
When plowing, blowing or shoveling snow, remember to keep it on your own property. Please do not put it back on the street or sidewalk, and don't plow on to someone else's property.
