Ahh…the first signs of snow are soon upon us here in West Michigan. With that beautiful fluffy snow also comes a potential for severe weather and hazardous road conditions. If you rely on MAX Transit for transportation, we do have multiple ways for you to know if we have to cancel service due to bad weather or road conditions. Here are a few ways that you can connect with us to get that important information when you need it during the winter months:

Check Your Local TV and Radio Listings

Check your local news station just as you would for your child’s school to see if they’re closed. We send all closure information to both television and radio stations for them to broadcast. You can also view their individual websites as they will likely post all closure information there as well.

MAX Transit Text Alerts

Another way we send out closure information is through our mobile text alerts. This is a great way to get instant notification if we have to cancel service in a short notice. If you haven’t signed up for our text alerts, you can do so by visiting our website and filling out your information under the “Text Alerts” section of our website (simply scroll down to the bottom if this blog and submit your information). Standard text messaging rates do apply.

Social Media

We also post to our Facebook and Twitter accounts if we have to close due to weather. We encourage you to like/follow us on both platforms (if you don’t already) as another way to stay informed during the winter months.

MAX Transit wants to ensure that all of our passengers are kept in the know when it comes to winter weather cancellations. All of the options listed above are great ways to stay informed during the winter months. If you have any questions regarding winter weather or would like more information, please call our Customer Service team at 616-355-1010. You can also fill out our online contact form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
