Macatawa Area Express Transportation Authority (MAX Transit) gives notice of a proposed fare increase to be effective on October 1, 2020. MAX Transit has operated under the same fare structure since 2006, and must increase fares to supplement the increase of operational costs. To continue to keep passengers and staff safe, MAX Transit has procured an electronic fare box system, eliminating cash transactions. Fare increases will help cover those costs.

Passengers that currently use the fixed route service at a cost of $1.00 per ride will now pay $1.15 and Senior’s, ADA and Medicare card holders will continue to ride the fixed routes for free. Full fare demand response service fare will increase from $5.00 per ride to $5.50, and Seniors and ADA card holders will pay $2.30. See chart below for more detail.

Public comments, either oral or written are welcome at the Public Hearing. Citizens with written comments may send via email through www.catchamax.org. Immediately following the Public Hearing, action is scheduled to be taken on the proposed fare increase.
